If you are someone who thinks SMS is the God's gift to mankind and prefer to communicate through SMS, then here is a bit of information for you. I am sure you will love it.

SMS nowadays charge anywhere from 10 paise to 1 INR if local and even more if STD. This is never a huge amount and easily disposable even if you are dead broke. But, I think thats a fair trade off.

There may be many more sites which provide you with free SMS service. But, as of now, those are the sites I know.
